Mentoring

At Heights of Hope, we pair kids from our neighborhood with positive, caring, adult role models. They spend time together each week on their own time, deciding what they would like to do for fun. The goal is not to do lots of extravagant things together, but instead to spend time learning about each other’s lives and building a trusting friendship. We match based on personality and interests and provide ideas and optional monthly mentoring activities along with discounts at local businesses.

Potential mentors need to have reliable transportation and a consistent two hours free each week to dedicate to a mentoring relationship. We know all the kids and families in the program and provide training and a lot of support along the way. Mentors commit to being with their mentee for a year, but with the expectation that if things are going well in the match, it will continue for the long haul.
